Fly fishing the Chesapeake Bay with Capt. Tom Weaver is about one thing—getting you shots at fish in clean shallow water, visual, adrenaline-filled encounters with some of the most powerful inshore fish on the East Coast.
We specialize in fly fishing for striped bass (rockfish), redfish, and speckled trout, with a strong focus on sight fishing and shallow-water presentations. Whether you’re an experienced angler or fly fishing in salt water for the first time, our trips are built around opportunity, education, and unforgettable moments.
Spring brings some of the most exciting fishing of the year, with striped bass flooding the shallow flats and offering consistent chances to sight cast to feeding fish over sandy bottom. As the water warms into summer, we transition to early morning topwater eats, shallow structure, and technical shots at cruising fish—perfect for anglers looking to sharpen their skills.
Fall is pure chaos in the best way. Rockfish blitz the surface as they feed aggressively ahead of winter, creating explosive, fast-paced action where well-placed casts get crushed on top. It’s some of the most visual and exciting fly fishing the Chesapeake Bay has to offer.
But what truly sets this fishery apart is the winter-to-spring trophy season. From December through May, we target giant striped bass—often in just a few feet of water. These are big, powerful fish, and catching them on the fly in shallow water is a rare and unforgettable experience.
Every trip is tailored to the conditions and your goals, but the mission stays the same: put you in the right place, at the right time, with the right approach—so when the shot comes, you’re ready.
If you’re looking to experience the Chesapeake Bay at its best, there’s nothing like doing it with a fly rod in hand.

In the summer months the Big Bull Redfish school up and come up the Bay chasing bait, the surface blitz of hundreds of fish is an incredible sight! The days are long and there is no guarantee in this fishery but hooking one of these fish on the fly is a thrill of a lifetime.
